Hope 4 Tomorrow Mentoring Program

Be a mentor. Motivate the future.

The Foster Care Support Foundation's Hope 4 Tomorrow Mentoring Program (H4T) provides guidance and resources for foster pre-teens and teens to help ensure their successful future. Our collaboration with various community partners, corporations, and the Georgia Department of Family and Children Services promotes academic, lifestyle and financial excellence for the youth.

Who are our Mentees?

H4T is a one-on-one program designed to help pre-teens and teens who are in foster care homes, group homes, and relative care homes. The youth are matched with one mentor of the same gender. Matches are based on a variety of criteria including geographic location, hobbies, interests and the goals of mentees and mentors.

Who are the Mentors?

Mentors of the H4T Program are leaders who wish to provide a positive example through support and guidance to a youth residing in foster care, a group home, or relative care. Mentors will meet with their mentee for a minimum of 4 hours per month. During their visits, mentors and mentees will enjoy an activity (or activities) at a public facility (facilities) of their choice. Some examples of activities mentors and mentees may enjoy together include:

  • Playing a sport
  • Visiting a museum
  • Walking in the park
  • Dining out
  • Taking a class
  • Playing Chess
  • Attending a seminar
  • Volunteer work
  • Tutoring sessions

H4T training is provided to mentors to prepare them for working with the youth.

Mentor Requirements

  • At least 25 years old
  • Must complete H4T mentor training
  • Able to pass background, drug and driving record checks
  • Must commit to spend a minimum of 4 hours each month in person with mentee for a minimum of 12 months
  • Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license and current automobile insurance

Becoming a mentor: The First Step

If you are interested in becoming a mentor, the first step is to attend an H4T Orientation Session. During the orientation session, mentors will learn more about H4T and will have the opportunity to ask any questions they may have about the program. H4T Orientation Sessions are held via conference call and generally last about one hour. In most cases, H4T Orientation Sessions are held on the second Tuesday of each month from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Please note: Registration is required and registrants will need to confirm their attendance via email the day before the orientation is scheduled to receive the conference call information.
